SURVEYOR Mutation Detection Kits, for universal primer capillary electrophoresis, contain two key components: SURVEYOR Nuclease, a mismatch-specific endonuclease derived from celery, and fluorescent universal FKS primer, which can be used to label any PCR product. To streamline the mutation detection process, the endonuclease is used in a “Direct Addition Protocol” that does not require a special reaction buffer. Using the included primer eliminates the need for fluorescent primers that have to be synthesized specifically for each PCR target. The same universal primer can be used to label any PCR fragment at one or both ends by employing either standard or nested PCR protocols. The kit is anticipated to accelerate the rate of detecting and mapping unknown and known mutations and polymorphisms.
